Road Trip in America's Midwest

I just completed many of my fourth year medical rotations in the Midwest. This is not the most optimal route to visit these sights.

Columbus, Ohio is home to OSU. This is their gorgeous library!

OSU Library. One of the prettiest libraries I've seen.

Detroit, Michigan is pleasant in the summer. The African American population here is high because it was the end of the Underground Railroad before slaves escaped to Windsor, Canada.

My most frequented spot was the GM building. I played quite a bit of Pokemon Go within the large industrial building. Parking was free at the nearby casinos.

The industrial look of the GM building with lots of open, vacant spaces. So many people were playing Pokemon Go.

The Heidelberg Project is not too far outside the main city. Garbage and run-down homes are converted into art. It's worth checking out if you're into modern art.

Indianapolis, Indiana is home to the Indy 500. I had no concept of indy car racing until visiting the track! It's a great tour and I highly recommend it.

My next stop was Cincinnati, Ohio. This is a charming small city with a famous baseball team. The Great American Ball Park is home to the Cincinnati Reds. This team has a unique fan base from multiple states because it's the only MLB team its region. The museum has a free speed pitch radar booth. Pitching looks much easier than it actually is.

A quick retreat to Lexington, Kentucky must include a visit to Claiborne farm. They give you peppermint to feed to some of the horses!

Another quick detour, this time to Nashville, Tennessee. I recommend this tour of the historic Grand Ole Opry!

Next up was St. Louis, Missouri! The main attraction is the Gateway Arch to the West.

Take an elevator to the top of the arch for a nice view of the city.

My final destination was Chicago! I stayed with my uncle here for a few months. There are so many great museums here and always something happening.
