There are so many outdoor activities in
Taiwan. I rented a city public bike and rode it along the
New Taipei City Riverside Cycling Path!
|
There's plenty of space on this nicely maintained bike path. |
|
Gorgeous views during the ride. |
|
Taipei City! |
|
My bike route was approximately 10 km. |
You can spend the day hiking throughout
Yangmingshan Park and relaxing along the
Beitou Hot Springs nearby.
|
Beautiful views of the volcanoes. |
|
Grazing cattle along the trail. |
|
Fumaroles are sulphur gas exhaust holes along the volcanoes. |
|
Beitou Hot Springs. |
The
Liberty Square Plaza is home to the
Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.

I highly recommend hiking
Elephant Mountain during the evening for striking views of
Taipei 101. Also, it's might be worth a trip to the Taipei 101 observatory. However, during my trip it was quite foggy and didn't offer much of a view.

The busy streets of Taipei. |

The dampener within the core of the Taipei 101. |
I also recommend visiting a night market. There's so much delicious food at the
Shilin Market. My favorites were the
soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) and the
mango shaved ice. The
National Palace Museum contains priceless artifacts, but is also extremely crowded. I recommend a tour guide for both their knowledge and their help navigating through the crowds.
*Unlike Hong Kong and Shanghai, there isn't nearly as much of an international presence to this city. The locals mainly speak Mandarin, so I had to heavily rely on Google Translate and Google Maps. This city was so unique and I will return to explore other parts of Taiwan!
